Power provisioning refers to reserving and ensuring the necessary electrical power (measured in watts) for all technical equipment required to operate a server rack or individual height units. This includes, for example, fire protection, emergency power supply and air conditioning. We bill the consumption of your hardware separately.
In order to distribute the resources fairly, you need a larger colocation from a certain wattage. Try out the corresponding maximum values in the configurator or contact our sales team.
Important details on power provision
The required power is often less than the maximum power of the power supply unit of the installed hardware. This is a common practice, as the actual utilisation by efficient technologies rarely reaches the maximum power even under full load.
We recommend testing the power supply for one month. During this period, you can observe and analyse the actual energy consumption of your systems. After this test phase, you can have the power provisioning adjusted accordingly to ensure that you reserve neither too much nor too little power. This helps to optimise costs and use resources efficiently. We would be happy to advise you on this.
